On December 10, residents of a property in the central-north region of the province of Chubut witnessed a strange event: the sighting of an unidentified flying object. At the request of the witnesses to the event, we shall keep their names confidential, nor shall we disclose the name of the property on which the sighting took place, since witnesses to such matters are often subject to ridicule.

At 19:00 hours and with considerable daylight, a 25-year-old woman, her 33-year-old uncle and her 73-year-old grandfather decided to take a stroll on their ranch. The afternoon was pleasant, sunny and with scattered clouds.

The young woman, who we shall call Valeria, was visiting the location with her uncle to keep her grandfather company.

As the three headed toward a picturesque area of the field take souvenir photos of the area, Valeria detected a strange glow between some clouds. She notified her uncle and grandfather about what she was seeing, and the three began looking at the glowing image that was approaching them soundlessly.

Their initial speculation involved a possible airliner or small plane flying at low altitude, but astonishment overcame them as they clearly noted that the object did not resemble a conventional craft at all.

It was at that moment that all doubts were dispelled for the three onlookers: “that thing”, as the young woman described it, was not an airplane. “It was shaped like a typical flying saucer one sees in the movies.” Valeria also told JORNADA that the object “remained motionless at an altitude of some 100-150 meters in front of my grandparents’ house. We were very scared at the time. I asked my uncle to take some photos with his camera while I erased some photos from mine in order to take some of my own, as the memory card had filled up only moments earlier.”

The young woman, her uncle and her grandfather sought shelter behind some rocks from which they saw the object for an estimated 8 to 10 minutes. Moreover, the young woman’s uncle related that the object moved in complete silence and in tight angles, “like a zig-zag. We were very scared to know that my mother was alone in the house, with that thing facing the place.” After remaining static for a few minutes in front of the tree-lined house, it made a sudden turn and rose into the air, vanishing instantaneously from the startled eyewitnesses’ sight.

JORNADA had access to this story thanks to the fact that the young woman and her uncle decided to make it known, as the photos taken seemed very substantial to them. Despite the fact that she wanted to make her experience known from the start, Valeria told this newspaper that her grandparents and uncle were opposed, as they feared ridicule. It is for this reason that the names of the witnesses and the property were kept confidential. “I didn’t believe in these things,” Valeria told JORNADA. “What began as a lovely walk with my uncle and grandfather toward a little hill turned into an afternoon we’ll never forget as long as we live.”
